Inspired by the director's true story, the film is the story of an uneasy relationship between father and son. When Franklin breaks off all contact with his father, the desperate older man cannot accept this. He goes as far as making a fortune to keep abreast of what is going on in the sensitive, somewhat lonely boy's life.
Technology unexpectedly comes to his aid. Seeing no other option, Chuck creates a fake social media account to keep tabs on his son. He pretends to be an attractive waitress and strikes up a thread of understanding with the boy. However, the situation becomes complicated when Franklin, infatuated with the girl, wants to meet at all costs. This is the moment when it begins to dawn on the older of the two protagonists that, with good intentions and only wanting to help, he may in fact have done harm.
James Morosini's film, in which he himself plays the role of Franklin, is an empathetic story about life's vulnerabilities. The story, framed as a comedy-drama, subtly explores the theme of interpersonal relationships and the need to communicate, evoking both laughter and emotion.
