Jean-Louis Matinier is a prominent European accordionist. Although he has a classical music education, he crosses genre boundaries and seeks new challenges in the form of projects with diverse musicians. Matinier has collaborated with, for example, oud player Anouar Brahem, clarinetist Louis Sclavis, pianist François Courtier, Tarkovsky Quartet and Marco Ambrosini, a nyckelharp player. Now comes his new venture with guitarist Seddiki, with whom he shares a far-reaching musical imagination.
Guitarist Kevin Seddiki, is the holder of the European Guitar Award (European Guitar Award 2009) and a longtime partner of the famous musician Al di Meol. Kevin is as close to jazz as he is to world music. Seddiki has experience with classical music and has also collaborated with many improvisers in various styles from jazz to flamenco to transcultural projects.
Jean-Louis Matinier and Kevin Seddiki created a joint music project, the main idea of which they summarized as "chamber jazz music opened to the world". Their joint album was released under the name Rivages by ECM.
