Who knows where death metal would be today if American Massacre hadn't done their bit for the genre with their legendary From Beyond. It was Kam Lee, the leader of Massacre, who is considered to be the creator of the death metal growl, which he created by taking direct inspiration from Thomas Gabriel Warrior's vocal inflection.
