Music that makes Volker Goetze, trumpeter born in Germany and settled in NYC, with Ablayem Cissoko, Senegalese singer and kora player, transcends both geographical and musical borders. In 2008 recorded debut together Sira, which has become a unique musical synthesis of the narrator's long tradition with a modern twist. In their first recording with Goetze and Cissoko again issued a bold sound path from the West African desert and coast to the urban landscape of New York and Paris, which speaks to the theme of our historical roots and our fast-paced, dehumanised modern endeavors. In the tradition of the griot Cissoko trying to heal our souls with his music and in partnership with Master Goetz he's doing, their recordings are a real mental balm.
