Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava

Gallery of Art in Ostrava was founded in 1952 as a regional gallery which continued the tradition of the "Association for the issue and maintenance of the exhibition hall in Ostrava." Since 1984, the gallery holds exhibitions in the House Of Art and New Hall Poruba. The House Of Art - building from 1926 is a piece of unique modern architecture in Ostrava. Nowadays, the gallery owns art collection of 20 000 art works. The quality of the art collection of gallery in Ostrava assigned to the five most important art institutions in the Czech Republic and obtained as a supra-regional importance.
