Performing: So Yun Um
So Yun Um is a debutant director who grew up behind the counter of a liquor store owned by her father. Danny ended his successful partnership with Nike to return home and help his mother run the family’s liquor store. This documentary captures the intergenerational dialogue in which Danny and So’s lifelong dreams collide with their parents’ ethic of hard work and tenacity. With their optimistic approach to life, the two try to bridge the generation gap and the conflict between the local Korean and African-American communities that has been ongoing since the 1990s. Under the influence of a troubled past, So and Danny try to build a better future for everyone.
