Alluring in its decadent chart, yet resiliently vanguard. Ever full of contradictions, the cosmopolitan Venice has always been a city of commercial and cultural exchange with the East, a city open to the future and its inspirations. Venice has succumbed to the fever of constant rediscovery by its inhabitants and travellers, allowing its identity to continue to take shape and not become ossified.

Carlo Cecchi, a master of Italian theatre who worked with the great intellectuals and cultural creators of the 20th century, brings us closer to the memory of this city. Venice is also absorbed by Hania Rani. The esteemed young Polish pianist and composer seeks inspiration in the museums and narrow streets to compose the soundtrack for this film. The two perspectives of different generations are brought together in one story by the narrator, Lella Costa. The voice of the Italian actress reminds us: Venice has always been a woman.
