Screening of the movie “A Machine To Live In” and short movie “Kotěra”.

Kotěra / Tomáš Luňák, Kateřina Fojtíková, Greta Stocklassa / Czech Republic 2021 / 32 min / Czech – A series of shorts about buildings by Jan Kotěra shot by several Czech filmmakers on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the great founder of Czech modernism.

A Machine To Live In / Yoni Goldstein, Meredith Zielke / USA 2020 / 89 min. / Portuguese, esperanto, English subtitles – Is Brasília the prime example of modernism or rather an architectural utopia? The opulent project of the so-called city of the future by the architect Oscar Niemeyer and the urbanist Lucio Costa is presented rather as an uninhabited artificial world. A Machine to Live In captures its visual beauty placed in the context of the mystical architecture of cults and utopian cities in the remote inland of Brazil.
