The life of a family of peach growers in Spanish Catalonia changes dramatically when the owner of the land they farm dies and his heir intends to sell it. The author's second film, Summer 1993, is a family saga in which the youngest characters, tenderly portrayed by the director, play an important role. The soulless corporate business, represented by the landowner Pinyol, collides here with the portrait of a multi-generational family of farmers, growing vegetables and fruit for generations. The empathy and warmth in the presentation of the Solé farming family and its individual members is a paean to the traditional values flowing from life's everyday pleasures. It is socially engaged cinema, yet authentic thanks to the naturalists who appear in the film.
