Designer is the title of the new album by Aldous Harding. This title does not necessarily imply what is expected of the introverted New Zealander. But even the predecessor Party was not necessarily adequately named – this collection of almost delicate pieces was too melancholy. Nevertheless, Harding asked to take the name seriously. This also applies to her latest work. And indeed, the singer/songwriter designs her art at its best, starting with the basics of acoustic guitar and piano, the special arrangement for each song, her videos and finally her emotional live performance.
The performances are theatrical stagings of corporeality. She dances with steel fervor through the complexity of feelings. Like a character of the Japanese Bunraku theater, who can turn her expression from an innocent girl into a dark monster in a matter of seconds, her songs and moods change as well.
Yves Jarvis from Canada will be the support act.
