Venue description

When the electromechanical lever interlocking Olympia-Stadion was closed in 1983 and replaced by a gauge interlocking, it was actually planned to demolish the old interlocking. But thanks to the efforts of employee Ernst Neumann, this technical artifact - unique in its size - was preserved. Already worthy of preservation as a technical monument at that time, the combination of the historic signal box with the collection of the then subway operations manager Klaus Siepert († 2009) turned it into a museum that is unique in Europe in terms of its diversity. Many functions can still be demonstrated today, after more than 70 years. Unfortunately, not all of our ideas could be realized due to the limited space available. In particular, there is no possibility in Berlin to exhibit the existing historic vehicles and to integrate them into the museum. In September 2007, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the U-Bahn Museum.

The Underground Museum is open on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10:30 to 16:00. The entrance to the U-Bahn-Museum is located directly in the reception hall at the U-Bahn station Olympiastadion on the U2.
