A story about what happens to human beings when, caught up in greedy, bloodthirsty ideologies, they cease to distinguish between good and evil. About political visionary madmen, false promises, perverted ideas and the obsession with power. In his masterpiece, Dostoevsky foresaw the threat of revolution turning into totalitarian rule, mercilessly exposed ideological fanaticism, and showed the birth of terrorism. The history of the 20th century has shown how prophetic these visions were. Everyday life proves how strikingly up-to-date they still are.

The performance directed by Krzysztof Jasiński is a spectacle filled with an atmosphere of horror and mysticism. It presents a world stretched between the empty customs of aristocratic salons and the richness of symbols of Orthodox rituals. A world vacillating between a revolution shattering the order of things and an attempt to save the remnants of age-old sanctities. It is a stage mystery play in which, accompanied by the singing of the Orthodox choir, the scent of incense and the light of candles, the living Demons prowl somewhere between the actors and the characters they play. The actors are accompanied by the chamber choir Voskresinnia, performing traditional Orthodox devotional songs live.
