Two actresses meet in a theatre dressing room. An experienced diva and a young girl just starting her career. As Gertrude and Ophelia, they are about to perform together in a play. At first it would seem that the only thing they have in common is their mutual distaste. But their conversation in the back room of the theatre reveals surprising similarities. Are they still two different people, or is it one artist and her memory of the girl she was years ago? The boundaries between the actresses and the characters in the play are also slowly blurring. How much of Ophelia is there in each Gertrude? Will Ophelia ever play Hamlet's mother? The phenomenon of acting metamorphosis – a momentary fascination, an impermanent existence – is summed up in this strange wardrobe, intensifying reflections.

One might ask what the title blue shrimps (of the species Neocaridina heteropoda) have in common with a staging of the most famous drama of all time. Jacek Cygan amuses us with surprising juxtapositions of people and phenomena, convincing us that in life, as in a well-crafted play, the most interesting twists of action are the surprising ones.
