A production of Tennessee Williams' Southern Gothic classic at Warsaw's Teatr Baza. At a wealthy cotton-planter's house, the birthday of the family's patriarch is in progress. The family, convinced of the man's illness, expects an equitable division of the estate. A fight over the inheritance begins, during which family secrets are brought to the surface and demons of the past return. The cancer that has nested in their hearts exposes primal lusts and determines family ties.

Williams' drama is a psychological family drama and a kind of study of human meanness. In it one can find a lot of love – unfortunately unfulfilled, a lot of envy – hidden for a long time like the power of a dormant volcano, and a pinch of truth, which, as it usually happens in Williams' work, would have been the characters' salvation if only spoken 10 years earlier. Now it's too late.
