Collegium Zieleński under the baton of Stanisław Krawczyński will perform as part of the Music in Old Kraków festival. They will present together material by Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki.
Collegium Zieleński is an ensemble of 27 singers and 9 instrumentalists, playing historical instruments. It was founded and has been led since 2009 by Stanisław Gałoński - a conductor and long-time animator of cultural life in Poland. The main objective of the Collegium is to promote the work of Mikołaj Zielenski - a brilliant Polish composer from the 17th century, regarded as the most outstanding artist before Chopin. His music, contrasted with the style of G. Gabrieli or C. Monteverdi, is still poorly recognised abroad. In order to popularise this work, the Collegium under Stanisław Gałoński made the first complete recording of the works of Mikołaj Zielenski. It was honoured with numerous nominations and awards - including the Fryderyk and Orphée d'Or. The Collegium dedicates concerts to this composer in Poland and abroad. Alongside concerts dedicated to this composer, the Collegium Zieleński also performs music from many different eras - from the Middle Ages to the present day, foreign and Polish.
