Das Augenlid ist ein Muskel (The eyelid is a muscle) by Alexander Stutz, directed by Jorinde Dröse, will be performed at the Deutsches Theater.

When something comes up after years, it often goes tortuous ways, as in the text by Alexander Stutz. And although the body of his protagonist seems to have an awareness of the trauma that happened to him in childhood, language first needs this detour to be able to articulate what happened. But how can it, when the silence is one that has been given to one by one's family? So the eyelids begin to speak, the lump in the throat and also a mattress. A silence that believes it can make things go away by not naming them only masks the hurts that just can't be hushed up. Stutz's text finds a breathtakingly linguistic form for a subject that always leaves one speechless.
