About De La Soul
De La Soul is an American hip-hop trio made up of rapper Kelvin Mercer, David J. Jolicœur and Vincent Mason, founded in 1987 in New York City. Together with bands such as A Tribe Called Quest and the Jungle Brothers De La Soul formed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the group of the Native Tongue Family, a movement that dealt instead of the then usual Gangsta and Ghettolyrics with social issues and on set a friendlier image.
