Dutch and Flemish Painting from the ERGO Hestia Collection.

The exhibition will present paintings by 17th-century Dutch and Flemish masters on loan from the ERGO Hestia Insurance Company. This is the only corporate collection of Old Masters paintings in Poland, never before shown to the public. The exhibition will be supplemented by selected works from the National Museum in Warsaw. On display will be 52 works by eminent artists, such as Salomon van Ruysdael, David Teniers the Younger, Jan Porcellis, Gabriel Metsu, and Jan Breughel the Younger.

Different Perspectives tells a story about the birth and growth of Dutch art in the 17th century in the context of the parallel development of Flemish art. The exhibition proposes a division into seven sections (“perspectives”), meant to facilitate discovery of the variety of meanings offered by 17th-century paintings. Landscapes, still lifes, and genre scenes are showcased against the background of political, economic and artistic changes. Yet this proposed division is not arbitrary – visitors are invited to create their own perspectives to better understand the amazing world of Old Master art.
