A group of villagers sneak into the cemetery chapel in the middle of the night. They are going to Dziady to meet the loved ones of the dead, shed tears once again at their loss, and strengthen their faith in their happy eternal rest. Initiated by a Guślarz, they will take part in an ancient ritual—a seance of communing with the spirits of the dead, those they loved and those they hated. To them, but also to the reluctant pagan superstition priest, a mysterious Phantom will appear that night and reveal its painful secret.
The ambition of the creators of the Contemporary Theatre's production is to try to translate the precious literary tradition into the sensibility of the contemporary audience and thus draw them into the poet's world of imagination. The aim of the original collage of images from Dziady of Vilnius and Krakow, is to bring the phenomenon of Mickiewicz's work closer to today's young audience.
For young adults aged 13 and over.
