Unsound 2022’s official opening event at Kraków’s majestic Philharmonic Hall includes two major collaborative projects involving Polish artists.
Earlier this year, AD93 released Wojciech Rusin’s Syphon, an album reconstructing fragments of the past into speculative medieval music. For this performance, Rusin joins forces with Kraków’s celebrated Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble and soprano Joanna Kowalska-Pawlikowska to create an ambitious show involving 3D-printed reed instruments, texts inspired by gnostic and alchemical writings, striking visuals and a sense of wonder.
Parisian sonic alchemist Aho Ssan captured global attention with 2020's Simulacrum, a symphony of complex digital processes representing themes about Blackness, identity and growing political unrest. Resina is a Warsaw-based cellist and composer who has released genre-defying solo albums. They first performed together during Nicolás Jaar’s Unsound-commissioned project Weavings, and now present a new stand-alone collaborative project called Ego Death.
