May in Warsaw will begin the European Festival. This all-day event, full of attractions for the whole family, will take place on 1 May during the day in Krakowskie Przedmieście and in the evening in the Multimedia Fountain Park. Krakowskie Przedmieście will host a well-known European repertoire. On the stage at Tokarzewskiego Street will appear artists from Poland, Greece and Germany. Those willing to learn the basics of European dances - mazurka, polka, paso doble, zorbas, cancan, etc. - will perform on the stage in Tokarzewskiego Street. Numerous competitions with prizes will be held there throughout the day. From the balcony of the Bristol Hotel "Ode to Joy" will resound, and Warsaw inhabitants together with opera artists will sing European music hits. Apart from spiritual food, the Festival participants will also have a chance to choose dishes from cuisines from all over Europe. Sour soup, Lithuanian cooler, Czech garlic soup, jota and Hungarian goulash will be served at a 28-metre table. The youngest inhabitants of Warsaw will find plenty of opportunities to have fun at the Hoover Square. They will be waiting for them, among others, ecological art workshops, integrative multi-generational games, building characteristic European buildings and national fairy tales. Not only children will like the town of modern technology at Twardowski Square. The whole Krakowskie Przedmieście district will host wind orchestras, street theatres and a colourful "Ode to Joy" procession - dancers, animators, musicians and residents of the capital city. City companies and institutions that have a significant impact on the development of the city have been invited to cooperate with the event. In their zone, located near St. Anne's Church, they will show their achievements and development of the last 15 years.

The festival will end with a unique concert with the participation of stars of the Polish stage. On stage in the Multimedia Fountain Park will appear the Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the National Philharmonic under the baton of Krzesimir Dębski and Kayah, Natalia Nykiel, Stanisław Soyka and opera artists.

One of the elements which is part of the programme of celebrating the 15th anniversary of Poland's presence in the European Union is a film which will be screened during this year's screenings in the Multimedia Fountains. It tells about the changes that have taken place in the capital during the last 15 years. The inauguration of the screenings will also take place on 1 May at 21.30 hours.
