Fren is a Polish progressive rock quartet not afraid to fill their long, multithreaded compositions with emotional landscapes, smoothly juggling between oneiric trance and unrestrained dynamics. They create a world where aesthetics, sublimity and melancholy can perfectly coexist with rawness, energy, heat and spontaneity. The band formed in 2017 in Krakow, Poland, on the initiative of pianist Oskar Cenkier, guitarist Michal Chalota, bassist Andrew Shamanov and drummer Oleksiy Fedoriv and managed to play some very warmly received shows, sharing the stage with Caravan (UK), Stoned Jesus (UA), The Sonic Dawn (DK), Virgil Donati’s Icefish (IT). Their music has been described as a post-progressive mix of classical and fresh and has been compared to bands such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Änglagård and Caravan. The band’s debut album, titled Where Do You Want Ghosts to Reside, was released on 6 March 2020.
