Galerie Gerken was opened by Tanja Gerken in 2004 at Auguststraße and moved to Linienstraße at Berlin-Mitte in 2013 after eight years of existence. The rooms extend over two floors with about 240 square meters exhibition space.

The central curatorial orientation follows the aim to present pictorial and sculptural positions equally. Therefore, especially dual exhibitions are a constant format in the program of the gallery. Classical genres, new media, established artistic positions and young art define the curatorial extend of the presentations.

Through the connection of young and established positions a multilayered dialogue, which informs about the development of contemporary art throughout the last 50 years as well as about fundamental questions to medium and content of artistic means of expression.

During the exhibitions time, individually elaborated events, that give the visitors a deeper insight into the work of the artists, take place at the gallery.

Since the gallery has been founded in 2004, the support of young talents is a personal concern of Tanja Gerken and takes a central aspect of the exhibition program. Hereby, an emphasis lies on the support and professionalization of the participants as well as the possibility of connecting with colleagues and other caters of the art world. With further exhibitions and projects, trade fair participations and mediation perspectives at and around the gallery are aimed to be shown. The broad accompanying program to the exhibition is a platform for exchange and experimenting for the artists.

Since the end of October 2019 the Gerken Gallery is closed.
