Venue description
The Galerie im Turm was founded in 1965 as an exhibition venue by the Verband Bildender Kunst der DDR (VBKD). Since over 50 years It has been located on the ground floor of the Nordturm at the Frankfurter Tor which was planned and constructed by Hermann Henkelmann. Since the 1990s the space functions as a communal gallery of the district of Friedrichshain. It shows contemporary works of mostly Berlin based artists.
