Venue description

Berlin's Gay Museum (Schwules Museum) is one of the world's largest and most important institutions focusing on the broad range of human sexual identities and gender concepts. It houses many prominent exhibitions, archives and research contributions and has more than 35 mostly volunteer workers.

The museum is devoted to the great diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans*-identifying community in history, culture and art. It also collects, preserves and showcases documents and testimonials from many decades of Queer life. A number of changing special exhibitions and events take place here as well.

The museum also has a reference library on homosexuality and related themes and an archive containing several collections and estates. Seven work stations and one media workspace offer visitors optimal conditions for reading and researching.
