The Natural Education Centre in Kraków is a non-departmental unit of the Jagiellonian University located within the university's Third Campus. The main objective of the Centre is to collect and preserve zoological, geological, anthropological and palaeobotanical collections, to make them available for the implementation of educational and scientific programmes of the Jagiellonian University, to initiate various forms of activity in the sphere of environmental education and the popularisation of science and natural sciences in the society. The exposition part of the Centre, which covers an area of about 2400 square meters, consists of a permanent main exhibition entitled The Evolution of Earth and Life, where a number of thematic blocks are presented, including animal systematics, biogeography, evolutionism, ethology, anthropology, mineralogy, sedimentology, palaeontology and geological processes. The permanent part of the exhibition also includes an astronomical block and a reconstruction of a nineteenth-century natural surgery and an insect room. Temporary exhibitions are presented in separate rooms.
