Four perfomances – two live one hybrid DJ/live and a DJ set – on the 27th edition of Girls to the Front on BarKa.

Satin de Compostela is a Polish producer and DJ. Her adventure with sound production began in the previous century on the piano at music school. Her work resembles satin to the touch with the addition of the vast depths of cathedral bells ringing noon on a stuffy summer day in Santiago de Compostela. In 2019 her debut EP After Touch Velocity was released on cassette in Nawia, Krakow. Her songs have been featured on programmes in Resonance Extra, Noods Radio and Off Radio Krakow. She is a member of Club Nature and The Palace collectives, associating artists seeking experiments in music and performance, with whom she performed this year in Paris, Bristol and Berlin. In her spare time, she remixes Britney.

Atomi Alexandra a.k.a. Eslabrava is a rapper, singer and performer from Buenos Aires, inspired by hip-hop and urban music of the 00s and 10s, reggaeton, dancehall and reggae. In 2016, she joined the Nigerian-Brazilian Indigo Music label, where she lived in Sao Paulo. In 2018, however, she decided to return to Buenos Aires to produce her own material. The LGBTQ+ community and the underground scene do not stop craving her live shows – they are full of unique energy and freshness. During her performances, warmth and sex are intertwined with strong lyrics about her experiences in various South American countries.

Morgiana Hz thinks of music as vibrations and sees sounds like waves of colors. To fully conduct hir hybrid live sets ze combines (usually 3) turntables, contact microphones, various sensors and crystals scanning with the use of extended vocal techniques and unconventional sounds produced with hir oral cavity and larynx and recordings recently made in a binaural way. In addition to hir natural synthesizers and performative installations, ze experiments with geometrical dance figures. Morgiana’s Hz tracks resonate with Heart of Earth and are based on Pythagorean tuning, which one exactly, depends on intention – this is intrinsic practice in hir life, not only music. During hir adventurous soundscapes, ze interacts with the energy of the collective and shares with everyone the moment of togetherness. The suffix – ‘ness’ – coming from old Hebrew language, means ‘miracle’ and joins the source phenomenons: happiness, sadness, sensualness and queerness to form the spiritual body which is explored by the artist.

Szkoda, that is Kasia Kałaniuk, is half of the DJ collective Półsłodkie Ściervvo. She plays her favourite dance music with emphasis on broadly understood noise (or at least its small elements), which she listens to more often than anything else.
