In the contemporary era of progressive music, there are few bands that can claim to be as innovative, creative and understated as Haken. Since their formation in 2007, they have shown with four previous studio albums, an EP and a live album that they never stand still and rely on past successes. Rather, Haken are always looking for ways to challenge themselves as musicians and artists and put listeners on collective toes.
After their fifth studio album, the band is taking the music in a harder direction. We’ve always had a strong influence, explains guitarist Charlie Griffiths, but from the riffs that came naturally to us at the beginning of the writing process, it was clear that this was going to be a metal album. These are some of the most riff-driven songs we’ve ever written.
