Izabella, otherwise known as the Women’s Society for the Support of the Domestic Embroidery Industry in Pressburg and Its Surroundings, was one of the most active and prestigious women’s societies in western Slovakia. It was founded thanks to the growing confidence of women in society. Who founded it? Which garment was the most popular? At a curatorial tour given by BCM’s curator Elena Kurincová, you will also learn more bout the organization of work through workshops and instructors, the promotion and sale of products, participation in exhibitions, and the awards the society received, as well as their noble clientele. What is more, we will take a look at the society’s activities in the context of other women’s societies in Pressburg.
