Barrie Kosky stages Tchaikovsky's psychological drama Jewgeni Onegin about hopes, longings and the failure of four young people at the Komische Oper Berlin. Jewgeni Onegin deals with the great themes of life: the meaning of love, decision, responsibility and fate.

In the opera, four young people become each other's fate. Olga receives a visit from her fiancé, the poet Lenski. He brings his friend Jewgeni Onegin, with whom Olga's introverted sister Tatjana falls in love. Tatyana's feelings are rejected, so there is a furious quarrel between Lenski and Onegin.

Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky achieved a breakthrough as an opera composer in his time with Yevgeny Onegin. He also portrayed in it a panorama of young people. The staging of the lyrical scenes took on Barrie Kosky's opulent stage design.
