Jiří Stivín Jr. was born in 1975 in Prague into a musical family. He started playing drums in his early childhood. From the age of 15 he played in his father's band Jiří Stivín & Co Jazz Quartet. He studied percussion at the Prague Conservatory with M. Vesely. Jiří is a versatile drummer playing in various musical styles from jazz to rock, pop, folk and classical music.
He currently plays in the bands of Alice Springs, Yarda Helešic, Jiří Stivín, Michal Gera, Emil Viklický, Roman Pokorný and others. He has collaborated with many Czech and foreign artists: Druhá tráva, Pavel Bobek, Dalibor Cidlinský, James Cole, Ohm Square, Kurtizány z 25. avenue, Kashmir 9:41, Walda Gang, Walter Fishbacher, Elisabeth Lohninger, Dara Rolins, etc.
