In May 1943, a member of the Polish government-in-exile, Szmul Zygielbojm, commits suicide in London. An investigation by the British coroner provides the basis for learning about his fate. The investigation shows that the suicide was an act of despair because of the indifference of the Allied countries to the extermination of the Jews.
