"We grow to the inside / we don't measure ourselves on things / we give ourselves time, we give ourselves sense / we simply devote ourselves" – you should never stop imagining how the world would be best. The brothers Stefan and Michael make German pop. Clear and cool, self confident and critical, straight forward and emotional.
Grown up at Leipzig with church choir and street music, later drawn to techno and alternative, one of them becomes guitarist and the other one moves to Berlin to study medicine. There, they come together again as musicians and writers in 2016 and have been working on their shared musical vision at their home studio since then. A sound, that is urban and modern, but in the same time with its roots in soul and trip hop. And lyrics, that re-discuss the relevant topics of their present: Family, love and all that we believe in. With a precise vision for cracks, breaks and facets they set the often very contrary feelings of their generation to music. And maybe this is the biggest strength of Klan: to face the questions of their time with curiosity and openness and thereby ass lightness in the heavy.
Live on stage, the powerful songs develop a thrilling dynamic. When Klan are standing on stage, the audience experiences to authentic musicians who do not only have a feeling for great melodies but also a clear message. In 2017, they toured with Elif, Nisse and Vök and played at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and the Waves Vienna. Their debut album will be released this year and was created in collaboration with Tim Tautorat who also gave his musical signature to the records of Faber, AnnenMayKantereit and The Kooks. In April 2018, Klan played their first own tour. The debut Wann hast du Zeit? will be released this October and is available for pre-ordering from now on. In November, the same-titled tour follows.
