Discussion with German critic and art historian Wolf-Günter Thiel and Polish philosopher and art historian Kazimierz Piotrowski. The discussion will be moderated by the curators of the "Political Art" exhibition, Piotr Bernatowicz and Jon Erik Lundberg.

A panel discussion devoted to the figure and art of the recently deceased artist Lars Vilks, whose work is presented at the exhibition Political Art. Lars Vilks, a Swedish artist and art theorist, lived under constant police protection for over 14 years. In 2007, he made a drawing to be presented in the exhibition Dog in art in a Swedish gallery. It depicted a dog with the head of a bearded man in a turban. The drawing referred to the phenomenon of anonymous sculptures of dogs placed on roundabouts in Swedish cities, and to the issue of caricatures of Mohammed in Danish newspapers. The gallery refused to show the work and the issue was publicised in the press. The discussion will focus on the artist's history, the art world's attitude to his work, the question of freedom of expression and ideologically biased questions such as Has transgressive contemporary art reached its limit and religious censorship is making a comeback with the increasing Islamisation of Europe? and Has liberal democracy also become just a façade, an empty slogan repeated by frightened politicians?

The event will also be streamed live on Facebook Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle.
