Michelle Gurevich was born in Toronto to a family of Russian immigrants, and it was her eastern background that was central to her growing up and the development of her musical career. Gurevich's work is often compared to that of Leonard Cohen, Nico and Russian pop legends like Alla Pugacheva, and reviewers describe her atmospheric, melancholic recordings as slowcore or lo-fi pop. Most popular in Eastern Europe, her music is also frequently featured in film and television. She has released six studio albums, the most recent of which is 2020's Ecstasy in the Shadow of Ecstasy.
Joining Gurevich as support is Twin Sons—the solo project of Berlin-based Scottish musician Robin Thomson, who has been creating sombre lo-fi pop for the past decade. His latest EP Can You Feel It? continues his melancholic exploration of themes of intimacy and failure. Since 2010, he has played in Michelle Gurevich's live band, as well as the Canadian indie pop group The Hidden Cameras.
