About MU

Mu is the latest and most ambitious project of the Gdańsk songwriter Tymon Tymański for years, founded together with long-time music partner and co-producer Marcin Gałązka and three leaders of high-profile post-jazz Tri-City formations: Michał Jan Ciesielski (The Quantum Trio), Michał Wandzilak (Świetliki, and Zgiłość) Jacek Prościński (Forests, Perfect Son). MU album *Free Energy! * Contains 10 extremely diverse songs, oscillating on the border between post-rock, synth-pop and jazz.

Tymański's compositions come from various periods and are accompanied by very personal English lyrics, sometimes assisted by Tymon's longtime friend, American songwriter and literary scholar Daniel Hertzov. Among the artistic inspirations appear, among others John Lennon, Eric Dolphy and Nikola Tesla, in the background you can also hear distant echoes of the influences of The Beatles, The Doors, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Steely Dan, The Stranglers, Depeche Mode, Beck, QOTSA, Grizzly Bear and Homeshake. MU's music is directed to the world of deaf people, to over-the-top hipster, sounding more like American alternative production in the climate of Wilco or Mac deMarco.
