The Museum of Photography in Krakow is the only museum institution in Poland devoted entirely to the photographic medium. It deals with photography as a cultural phenomenon, which has significantly defined - for almost two hundred years now - the iconosphere of modern man, manifesting itself in various spheres of his life: in science, the media, practices connected with commemorating and documenting the past, propaganda, advertising and, finally, in art. The museum operates in three locations: in the main building on Rakowicka Street, where temporary exhibitions and the main exhibition *What Does a Photo Do? *; in the former headquarters on ul. Józefitów, where there are no exhibitions and, during guided tours, viewers can see how the museum operates and the journey of museum objects from the moment they are included in the collection to the moment they are presented in an exhibition; and in the historic Strzelnica building in the Wola Justowska district, where the permanent exhibition Portrait, the MuFo Club and the MuFo garden are located.
