Venue description

Since 2011, the Museum of European Cultures has been located in the Bruno Paul Building, the oldest building in the Museum Quarter in Berlin-Dahlem.

With 280,000 exhibits, it is one of the largest institutions of its kind. It is part of the National Museums in Berlin of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. It was created in 1999 by merging the Museum für Volkskunde with the European Collection of the Museum für Völkerkunde.

The museum collects, researches, preserves, presents and communicates everyday culture and lifeworlds in Europe from the 18th century to the present day. The aim is to transcend national and linguistic boundaries and create meeting points for people from different cultures, as well as establishing links between the historical collection and current issues.

The museum also offers a diverse range of events such as the Culture Days at the Museum of European Cultures, where cultural aspects such as arts and crafts, music or culinary delights from different regions of Europe can be experienced in cooperation with institutions, embassies and associations.
