In 1972 the composer and director Winfried Radeke founded a chamber choir, which later developed into the Neuköllner Oper e.V., now located in Berlin-Neukölln. This opera venue’s ambition is to form a connection between opera, theatre and musical. First the ensemble was performing at different venues, but in 1988 it found a home in the Karl-Marx-Straße. The concept of the Neuköllner Oper e.V. calls for a variety of musical theatre of all genres. Barock opera, musical, operetta, classic opera (Mcbeth), contemporary opera, revue and musical theatre for children. All of this is part of the infamous Neuköllner Oper e.V.
