Lineup: TCF Rezzett Wyme & Trauma DJ Nervoso

Writing about Rezzett music is like undergoing a Rorschach test: a divinatory undertaking implying radically divergent answers and interpretations. The enigmatic duo’s eponymous debut LP doesn’t break the rule and if anything, puts its listener off the scent quite cleverly. After a string of well-received EPs on The Trilogy Tapes that’s seen them forge an eccentric signature sound halfway lo-fi analogue house and cask-aged breakbeat vintage, the pair was yet to hit the full-length format and they managed to come up with an album both articulate and rejoicingly bleary. Rezzett is an anonymous electronic music duo, presumably based in London, whose catalogue showcasing their dusty, twisted, and distorted take on house, drum & bass, and jungle has almost exclusively been released on The Trilogy Tapes since the pair's debut release in 2013. They have also remixed Omar Souleyman (his 2015 single "Heli Yuweli") and collaborated with Zomby, another well-known anonymous producer, on his 2016 full-length Ultra.

TCF is the moniker of Norwegian contemporary artist and musician Lars Holdhus. His work explores themes of code, cryptography and musical composition through the use of visual, sonic, built and written concepts. Holdhus creates a world that draws references from musique concrete, hardstyle, hardcore, poetry and digital artifacts. His practice shifts between art exhibitions and performing music pieces. Some recent exhibitions included Look…No Hands at HHDM in Vienna, Access Speed at Vault in Berlin and Driving Fast Nowhere at Polansky Gallery in Prague. The titles and descriptions of his work are written in cypher text, the key to which is hidden within the piece itself. The first release came out on YYAA tapes in 2013 and was made in a limited edition of 50 copies. His upcoming release on Liberation Technologies titled E4 15 C4 71 97 F7 8E 81 1F EE B7 86 22 88 30 6E C4 13 7F D4 EC 3D ED 8B further explores the cryptographic theme, consisting of digital and physical content containing the necessary keys to unlock the full meaning of the work.

DJ Nervoso, born in São Tomé and Príncipe, a Portuguese-speaking island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa, but based in Quinta do Mocho, periphery of Lisbon for more than 2 decades now, is perceived to be a key figure in development of the recent Lisabonian sound. He is the main reason why legendary DJs like Marfox, DJ Firmeza and many others started deejaying and producing, hooked on his fiery DJ sets since they were barely in their teens, around 2001-2002. He is well known for a bare bones approach to rhythm, working the basic hypnotic feel of pounding drums to mesmerizing effect, in his permanent quest to make people move. His sound is meant to unite, not divide, the dancefloor. Even before he started producing, Nervoso was quick to perceive that some people were alienated in parties where Angolan kuduro got played. His production is focused on adapting the beats of this much-loved dance music, changing the codes for a more inclusive experience. Príncipe couldn’t stress enough the joy and beauty of finally releasing an EP by scene originator DJ Nervoso.

Bratislava based w y m e specialise in blending highly functional yet hybrid and time-tested with sound of tomorrow into one coherent sonic trip. Her sets have the ability to hypnotise everyone from semi-random crowd to totally sober geeks with PhD in ‘Sonic and political diversity in the contemporary club sounds’. She is a founder xeno-: An experimental party series that focuses on all things weird, post and present with an open, safe and non-hierarchic vibe for the neglected creatures out there.
