The Old National Gallery in Berlin shows works of the painter Paul Gauguin (1848-1903), wich were produced in Tahiti. The exhibition looks at Gauguin’s oeuvre, shaped by Western, colonial ideas of the exotic and the erotic. The works are juxtaposed with historical material from both Gauguin’s past and his present, and with international contemporary art.
