Austin, Texas fourpiece Portrayal of Guilt play heavy screamo infused with the intensity and horror of black metal; they are widely regarded as one of the key bands of the genre's latest wave, combining the rawness of hardcore with experimental excursions. They debuted in 2017 with a self-titled EP; they have released three studio albums since, the most recent of which is 2021's Christfucker, and splits with the likes of Chat Pile and Street Sects. They are associated with one of the key East Coast emo revival labels, Run for Cover, which helped launch the careers of bands like Tigers Jaw and Title Fight.
