On September 26th 2019, some of the country's most legendary MCs will do their best for a good cause at a jam session at the Columbiahalle. All proceeds will be used to facilitate surgery for a seriously ill friend of the artists.

Julia Seip, firmly anchored in the music and media industry, fell ill in early 2018 and lost control of her body in the following months. Her previously independent life was almost completely wrested from her by the chronic, neuroimmunologic multi-system disease ME/CFS. Every mental and physical effort leads to pain and extreme fatigue. Some patients can barely leave the apartment or the bed, as Julia.

ME/CFS is not a rare disease, yet little explored. Through Julia's own research and subsequent investigations, she was additionally diagnosed with CCI/AAI. CCI describes the instability between cranium and the first cervical vertebra (Atlas), AAI the instability between Atlas and Axis.

However, there is reason for hope as a result of this second, bad diagnosis. While there is currently no treatment option for ME/CFS, CCI/AAI can be treated surgically. Thanks to the operation of the cervical spine by specialized neuro-surgeons, some patients with the same condition as Julia have already been helped. Although not fully explored, whether and how CCI and ME/CFS are related, surgery on other patients also significantly improved the symptoms of ME/CFS. One of them is Jennifer Brea, who presented her film about the illness, Unrest, at the Sundance Film Festival. She is on the way to full recovery a few months after surgery. Thus, it gives great cause for hope for those affected worldwide, including Julia.

This treatment is not yet carried out in Germany, which is why Julia's family and friends use a fundraising strategy to collect money for treatment by a neuro specialist in Barcelona. The operation costs almost 100,000 euros – the event at the Columbiahalle will be covering the last remaining costs.

All artists and contributors not only give up on their salary for the evening in order to support their friend Julia, but also to set a sign for all patients and draw attention to ME/CFS. This will make them part of the Millions Missing Campaign, which is making a major contribution to ME/CFS patients worldwide.
