About Rivers of Nihil
This innovative death metal band from Pennsylvania signed to Metal Blade Records in 2012 after a series of successful self-released EPs and countless US tours and festival appearances. The resulting debut album, 2013's The Conscious Seeds of Light, ran the gamut of emotions of modern progressive death metal, from brutal aggression to mournful melancholy. A career breakthrough for Rivers of Nihil came with the release of their third album, Where Owls Know My Name (2018); incorporating elements of electronica, jazz, alternative rock and folk into the mix, the material debuted at number 61 on the Billboard 200 chart and greatly expanded their fanbase. 2021 saw the release of their fourth and latest album The Work, which added a more yearning and exploratory aesthetic to their dynamic prog-metal sound.
