About RotFront
RotFront is the house-band of the Berlin based Café Burger. The group was formed in 2003 as 'Emigrantski Raggamuffin Kollektiv RotFront' by the Ukrainian Yuriy Gurzhy, who, together with Wladimir Kaminer, became famous for the Russendisko, and the Hungarian Simon Wahorn. Despite various line-ups they managed to stay faithful to their unique blend of eclectic styles, most notably reggae, klezmer, hiphop, cumbia and punk. The band's lyrics are written in different languages, notably German, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Their turbo-driven music deals with everyday life in Berlin and adventures of an immigrant in a big city. In 2009 they released their first album Emmigrantski Raggamuffin. Since then they have also published *Visa free (2011) and *17 Deutsche Tänze_ (2014).
With their organisation as a collective and their high energy brew, which knows many musical references, they fit into the squad of other collectives which have conquered the world from the capital of Germany: Seeed with their mix of reggae and hip hop and Culcha Candela with their mix of latino and pop.
