A perhaps rather unremarkable jazz musician from Portugal enters the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. With his eyes closed, he sings, in Chet Baker manner, a jazz ballad, enchanting an audience of millions with his voice and extraordinary performance. No dancers, no laser show, no ESC glamor. With Amar Pelos Dois, Salvador Sobral (born in Lisbon in 1989) is the first participant in Portugal to win the Eurovision Song Contest, earning the highest score ever in the history of the competition.

However, the former psychology student, who comes from an old noble family, withdraws from the public shortly after his victory at the ESC to undergo a heart transplant. For months, fans were worried about the health of the musician, who was born with a heart defect.

In 2018, Salvador Sobral is finally on the road to recovery and announces that he will soon be on tour again. Now the charismatic singer will be coming to Germany and Switzerland in April/May 2019 together with his jazz trio (piano: Júlio Resende / bass: André Rosinha / drums: Bruno Pedroso).
