Venue description

Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, based in a former movie theatre, built by Erich Mendelsohn, in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, is the biggest spoken theatre in all of West Berlin. The politically and socially engaged schedule is shaped by many different directing styles, also including forms of dance and musical theatre.

Alongside Berlin based directors like Thomas Ostermeier (the artistic manager of the Schaubühne since 1999), Michael Thalheimer, Falk Richter and Marius von Mayenburg, also international artists are regularly staging performances here, like Romeo Castellucci, Katie Mitchell and the choreographe Constanza Macras. Core of the Performances is storytelling (contemporary and classic), as well as the ensemble which includes stars like Nina Hoss and Lars Eidinger.
