Venue description

Scheinbar is a cabaret stage at the Berlin district Schöneberg that advertises itself as the smallest variety in Germany.

The venue was founded in 1984 by students of the Berlin acrobatic school Etage and therefore stood right in the beginning of the variety boom of the 80s in Germany.

The biggest part of the program consists of open stage events, at which the program is only set shortly before the show by the changing moderators.

Established artists test new programs and gags at Scheinbar while it also offers a stage to emerging young artists. The careers of Mario Barth, Kurt Krömer, Merkt Becker or Eckart von Hirschhausen, all famous German comedians, started at Scheinbar. It also belongs to the pioneers of Berlin’s poetry slam scene and slammer Sebastian Krämer is a regular guest.

In the room that has the size of a living room the visitors can enjoy a variety of events from cabaret or chanson to artistry or stand up comedy at least four times per week - in a cozy atmosphere with the flair of intimacy, avant-garde and nostalgia. Besides, there are monthly specials and other highlights.
