Text of the promoter:
The third edition of Sensorium: Beyond the Sound 2022 will present two essential artists of the global underground dance music scene:
Line-up:
Poison Anna – a hidden treasure of the British experimental rap scene – but not for long. She was pulled from the London underground by Asap Rocky, for whom she recorded vocals for the album "Testing" together with FKA twigs. Her mentor is Dean Blunt, a.k.a. "the gray eminence of the London scene“ situated around people like Tirzah and Mica Levi. In her own unique blend of trip-hop, dub and UK rap, she addresses the themes of identity, disinformation overload and systemic oppression. "Avant-pop that seeps right under the skin," writes the British magazine "Dazed".
Nazar –_ from the legendary "Hyperdub Records" (Burial, Laurel Halo, Fatima Al Qadiri and others) for the first time in Slovakia! June 18 live on a strong bass-heavy soundsystem in Fuga. "The Quietus" writes about his album "Guerrilla" as: “a special record that occupies a very unique artistic space. His "rough kuduro" sounds like nothing else." "Rough Kuduro" is his authorial interpretation of the Angolan music and dance style through, which he reflects the complicated history of his home country._
Diaki – producer and DJ, king of Afro rave and originator of the distinctive genre Balani show for the first time in Slovakia! The Guardian called „Balani Fou“ the album of the month. Pitchfork writes about "quintessential Afro rave expression."
The Balani show is a Malian phenomenon with a history of two decades. It is characterized by an avalanche of rhythms, the frenetic tempo of a sampled balaphon (an instrument resembling a marimba), roaring drums and a dance trance. This sound of ecstatic street parties is slowly but surely beginning to emerge from the rest of the world. Diaki set fire to the floor in clubs like Berghain but also in villages on the outskirts of Bamako, and it won't be different in Fuga on 17th of June.
The Guardian: "Diaki's balani is full of depth, which is initially masked by an incredible pace" (…), but once a person gets on his wave, the subsequent silence after the party will never sound like before." We just nod at the speed 200bpm.
DJ Plead – the crown prince of the Lebanese club sound and a key figure on the vibrant Australian scene. Furious beats, traditional Middle Eastern rhythms and the most current club production resounding in rave cathedrals from Berghain to London's Fabric: "one hell of a dance!".
Also starring crème de la crème of the local scene: DJ Gäp (SK / Mäss / Välvät) / wyme (SK / xeno-) / Tea Tralna (SK / BWO) / seafur… and others.
