Workshops on self-defence and assertiveness for women with motor or visual impairments (11 December) and intellectual disabilities (12 December).
The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Autonomia Foundation are organising self-defence and assertiveness workshops based on the WenDo methodology. A sense of power and empowerment is essential for effective advocacy for women’s rights. Meanwhile, according to the ROP’s research, 8 out of 10 women with disabilities experience violence that violates their dignity. That is why, as part of the exhibition Who Will Write the Story of Tears? Artists on women’s rights we organise empowerment workshops for women who want to: regain their power, express themselves freely, find courage and ways of reacting to hurtful words and behaviour, learn and practice techniques of physical self-defence, learn ways of managing stress and the feeling of helplessness, have a good time, laugh and relax.
WenDo is the only self-defence method in Poland developed by women for women, which combines forms of physical and psychological self-defence. Women of various fitness levels can take part in WenDo methodology classes. Workshops are organised in two groups: 11 December between 11:00-17:00 – for women with motor or visual disabilities and 12 December between 11:00-17:00 – for women with intellectual disabilities. Advance registration is required by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 577 006 290.
